APPROACH & METHODOLOGY
The coaching format falls into six main categories:
Children
Often starting as absolute beginners at primary school level. I’ve also coached and tutored the younger generation in schools, clubs and colleges throughout the Ealing Borough for 20 years, including Notting Hill Girls’ School, Ealing High School, Durston House etc.
Young adults
Usually at secondary school/college/higher education establishments.
Adult Beginners
No one is too old or too young to play squash! Regardless of how good or bad one considers oneself to be, playing squash means you can always have a really good knockabout with someone at your own level. Remember – as well as squash being fun and a stepping-stone to fitness and self-improvement, it’s a very sociable pastime. Why not come along to the well-attended week-end beginners’ session?
Intermediate/Improvers
At this level I tend to concentrate on both the player’s strengths and weaknesses, focusing mainly on accuracy, fitness while paying attention to the importance of drills and shot-choice.
Good
This is where encouragement and drive come more to the fore and where the player’s commitment, determination and increasing fitness are important adjuncts to the inputs.
Advanced
Now added to the realm of fitness and focus comes tactics, mental preparation with increased emphasis and concentration on specific areas for improvement.
